Current Info Kevin and his wife Judy live in Virginia Beach, VA where they have raised three sons. One of their sons is currently serving in Iraq. They enjoy visiting with their three grandchildren on their time off. After a tour in the Navy, Kevin now works for a company that provides logistical support for fast attack submarines for the U.S. Navy.

Biography - August 2006 Dear Classmates, Well, where to start to cover the past 35 years? For
several weeks after graduation, I split my time between working at Second
Beach and wrapping up our work on the yearbook. Late August I headed up to Worcester to start my
freshman year at Holy Cross as a Midshipman in the college’s NROTC Unit.
Barely survived my first year; never let it be said that classes
interfered with my "education". During the summer of 1972 went on my first Midshipman
Cruise onboard the USS INTREPID (CVS-11) – four weeks of 18-hour days
and very little sleep. Really
appreciated what our enlisted folks had to put up with.
I did get to see Copenhagen (Denmark), Bergen (Norway), and
Rotterdam (Netherlands). Judy and I married in February 1973, right after the
Navy allowed NROTC Midshipmen to marry. Got a little more serious about my
studies but I was careful not to overdo it. During the summer of 1973 I
spent four weeks at the Little Creek Amphibious Base and then four weeks
at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station. Junior year was uneventful. Judy and I lived in a
rather humble apartment. Did
my final Midshipman Cruise onboard the USS ENGLAND (CG-22) out of San
Diego. Senior year saw Judy and I in a somewhat better
apartment and the realization that there just may be life after four years
in Worcester, MA. Graduated in May 1975 with a B.A. in History and a
commission as an Ensign in the Navy. Spent the next year going to various schools in
Norfolk, VA and Newport. My
first son, Jim, was born in October 1975. Reported to my ship, the USS PENSACOLA (LSD-38), in
May 1976, while she was in overhaul in Brooklyn, NY. Spent the next three years learning and practicing Amphibious
Warfare. Made two deployments
to the Med, one to the Caribbean, and spent a lot of time training off the
North Carolina coast. Finished up my Navy “career” with a one-year
tour as a Communications-Electronics Officer with the 3rd
Marine Division on Okinawa. Judy and I returned to Virginia Beach in June 1980
and I began working at Newport News Shipbuilding six weeks later. I spent
the next 18 years in the Aircraft Carrier Construction/Overhaul Program.
My middle son, Stephen, was born in May 1981 and my youngest,
Andrew, in May 1984. In 1990, I achieved the designation of Certified
Professional Logistician through the Society of Logistics Engineers (now
the Society of International Logistics).
Switched to Fast Attack Submarine construction and overhaul in
1998. Today I work at AMSEC LLC (joint venture between SAIC
and Newport News Shipbuilding) as a Program Manager responsible for
developing and executing logistics programs/processes for the Navy’s
fast attack submarines. Judy and I now live in a condo next to her Mom
(Judy’s Dad passed away in August 2005).
Our youngest is still with us (I’m working on that) trying to
sort out what he wants to do with his life. My middle son Stephen works for Stihl Power Tools and
lives here in Virginia Beach with his family (one stepson and twin
daughters). My oldest son Jim is a Staff Sergeant in the Marines
and is about halfway through his second tour (one year) in Iraq.
He is currently assigned as a combat correspondent and the Press
Chief for Regimental Combat Team 7 (1st Marine Division) at Al
Asad Airbase. His family (one daughter) lives in government quarters at
Camp Pendleton, CA. My folks moved to my Mother’s hometown of Rutland, VT in the summer of 1971. They are still there, living very tranquil and comfortable lives. Judy has developed into quite an artist, designing and crafting collectable dolls. She also substitute teaches a couple days a week.
