Current Info

Bart lives with his wife Maureen in Newport where they have three children.  Bart finished a five-year degree in Pharmacy at U.R.I. and eventually ended up in charge of Pharmacology at Newport Hospital.  He has worked with Larry Gomes to track down all of the DLS grads for the 35th class reunion and is also a member of the 35th Reunion Committee.  In his spare time, Bart has several mountain bikes that he likes to ride on extreme trails.

Newport Hospital Employee is Pharmacist of the Year

Newport Hospital pharmacy director Bart Grimes, RPh, has been named Rhode Island’s 2009 hospital pharmacist of the year, the Rhode Island Society of Health System Pharmacists announced at its meeting on January 23.

A Newport native, Grimes is a 1977 graduate of the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy. He has been with Newport Hospital since 1978 and is an active member of the Rhode Island Pharmacy Directors Forum.

The award states, in part, that “Bart has devoted his professional career to improving pharmacy care at Newport Hospital and striving to stay current with pharmacy practice throughout the state and nationally. He continuously investigates new technologies and services, determines how best to adapt them to his practice setting, and then makes it happen.”

Grimes and his family live in Newport.
