John "Jake" O'Neil Obituary
November 5, 1953 -
May 28, 2016
O'Neil, John J. "Jake", 62, was taken from his loved ones
on Saturday, May 28, 2016. He was the loving husband of Alyson McCann of
West Greenwich. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John J. and
Rose-Anne M. (Lemoi) O'Neil.
Although he was taken too soon from all who loved him, Jake lived a full and
enriched life that allowed him to achieve many of his dreams. As a career
woodworker, Jake designed and built his own home and created beauty.
Together with his wife and soulmate, Alyson, they made many loving memories
and talked endlessly of things to come. He was a man of solid character and
integrity. Jake was kind and warmhearted with a witty and dry sense of
humor. There is no doubt that his humorous holiday greeting cards will be
missed among many other things. He loved spending time in nature, playing
his guitar, and restoring Volvos. He was passionate about everything
baseball and particularly loved his Boston Red Sox. For many years he played
for the Mystic Oceanics, a vintage baseball team.
In addition to his beloved wife Alyson, he is survived by five siblings:
MaryAnne Fritz of Barrington, RI; Edward O'Neil of Warren, RI; Robert O'Neil
of Warren, RI; Ellen O'Neil of Rehoboth, MA; and Martha "Mooky" O'Hare of
Warren, RI; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. He is
predeceased by two brothers: Michael and Theodore O'Neil.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home &
Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI on Wednesday, June 8
at 6:00 PM. Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM prior to his
Celebration. Burial will be private.
Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made
